Cricket Corgi

A day to day photo/story blog of Cricket the 3 year old Pembroke Welsh Corgi.

I am simply his master, but this is his wish.

He believes every picture should include him, every occasion is incomplete without his presence, and every story should portray him as the main character.

So this is for him.

Important Dates Regarding Cricket:
May 5 (2009) - His Birthday
July 18 (2009) - First Met
July 23 (2009) - The day he came home

Happy New Year! from Cricket and the rest of us
He went to bed early yesterday, but I stayed awake for him.
If anything’s going to happen this year, it will be weight loss! Cricket WILL be a healthy-weight corgi by 2013…Or…by 2015. Or something.
Look how clean he is! He got a bath at the doggie day care on Friday, and now he’s shedding like a beast. Which is what he always does, but let’s pretend it’s the bath’s fault.
We hope (Especially Cricket, of course) everyone had a very safe holiday, and that this new year brings great things!

Today involved a vet trip for Cricket.
He’s been limping the past few days, so we took him in to see what’s up.
He’s gained a pound (Thank you, 9 month old niece, for chucking all your food to the floor where Cricket can get to it) but is still lighter than he was when we brought him in over summer.
It’s frustrating, but we’re (Or at least I am) trying.
Cricket is as chipper as ever, even at the vet’s today.
I was nervous mainly because I figured that for sure his limp was due to his fat and that something terribly bad was happening and he’d have to be put to sleep. But I came to realize I was overreacting.
The vet put him on some medication for the next few days, but Cricket’s paw is already better than it was when he first started limping.
As soon as he’s back to normal, I’m going to step up his weight loss regime again, which will be great since it will be the New Year, and it’ll be like…a double whammy which will inspire me to keep it up.
In case we don’t return before the holidays are up, Merry Christmas, Happy Hannukah, and Season’s Greetings to all of Cricket’s fans!
Remember to have a safe and happy holiday!

Our family normally begins decorating on the first of December, but this year my mom got started right after Thanksgiving.
We’re not done yet, but I think Cricket’s all done…
Cricket wants everyone to remember that if you’ve got pets, you keep those pretty poinsettias out of the way of hungry mouths! Otherwise, your next holiday season won’t be very joyful…The same goes for yew trees, holly, lilies, and mistletoe!
Also keep chicken and turkey bones out of the way, they may splinter when being eaten, and everyone knows chocolate is toxic!

Our main computer is currently on the fritz, so we’re having to use the inferior computer at the back of the house.

However, we have a healthy stock of photos from when this computer used to be our main.

So in honor of Thanksgiving, please enjoy this picture spam that includes some of my very favorites!

Cricket would like to say how thankful he is for all his followers, but mostly for carrots and his dog food (mostly Rosco’s dog food, which tastes better of course.) and Milkbones.

We hope everyone is enjoying a family, fun, food filled holiday that will be looked upon happily for years to come!

Cricket and I knew we needed to take some new pictures today, but we were having trouble figuring out what to do for the pictures.
However, I remembered my bowtie from my Halloween costume, and an idea was born!
A portrait of a young dog is what you see here, too sophisticated even to smile.
But he’d like to thank all the veterans out there, especially the one next store that offers many pats and hellos.

Cricket is a very, very lazy dog.
Our day starts at 6 am, but he wishes it could start at 12. By 6:30 I’ve finally forced him out of ‘his’ room, but after a quick drink and potty break he hurries back for more sleep.
This is much of the same with this here blog. We’re always so lazy! This post should’ve been birthed 3 days ago! Sooner, even…
Here is this Halloween’s sushi dog!
It doesn’t look much like sushi…my handy-work is much more skilled in the drawing aspect. And in the end the time I took to make it definitely outweighs the total time he actually wore it…It wasn’t a very efficient costume.
Speaking of weight!
Our little fatcake is still…high in fat. But we try very hard to make his ingredients low-fat.
Happy belated Halloween from Cricket and his household, and happy November!

It’s fall here in the Cricket household, whether this city makes it visible or not as far as weather goes.
Cricket’s sushi costume is not yet in the works, but for now he’s sporting this lovely Target brand ghosty shirt. Doesn’t he look nice?
He would also like to announce that he has lost a whole 2 pounds since being put on his diet somewhere around…3 months ago?
Do dogs just lose weight slower than humans or…?
Ah well, it’s weight loss! He’s still 3 pounds overweight, but we’re still doing our very best to take away that fat.
Happy October, from Cricket!

mustlikedogs asked: This is too weird... my corgi's name is Cricket also... haha

Corgis named Cricket unite! This is not the first time we’ve found other corgis that share Cricket’s name…They are usually female, ha.

Cricket is sorry for not keeping up to date with this blog, but he was been very busy.
Very busy monitoring the construction of a picket fence.
He was confused at first, but he’s come to realize that not everyone is allowed in his realms, something he feels ashamed about, having not realized this sooner.
He likes to sit on the front porch and watch people go by, and wander into other yards. (We haven’t told him yet that once the fence is finished, this can no longer take place.)
Corgis go very well with picket fences, it was only right that we get ourselves one.

Cricket wanted to let everyone know something tonight.

He asked me to tell his fans that he is not afraid to admit that he enjoys dress-up.

And he’s lucky enough to have a Mama that loves taking pictures of dogs in dress-up.

In case you’re wondering, his next big costume will be a sushi costume for Halloween this year.

That is, if I’m crafty enough to make one.
